So we did it. Yesterday was moving day. I'm now updating this blog from my same spot on the couch but in a different town, a nicer home and it's still not real yet. This place is absolutely lovely, but it certainly doesn't feel like I live here. It just looks like someone put all our stuff in someone else's house.
Moving day, I was stressed out. We had movers to do all the work, really, but I was still full of anxiety. I'd been packing up until the last minute and had a cat who is nervous about transportation to worry about getting from Point A to Point B. In the end, it all worked out very smoothly. The movers were SO awesome, so if you are ever moving and you live in the New Jersey area, I can't recommend these guys enough - Palmieri Movers. They are professional, friendly, hard-working, efficient, take care of your things, and honestly seem to enjoy what they do! They were such nice guys and really knew what they were doing. Mike's mom has been using this company for 17 years whenever she's moved and I can see why. This family-owned company takes pride in the quality of their work.
You know who was NOT efficient though? Comcast. They only had to set up internet here since we get our TV through Direct TV satellite. Comcast was scheduled to be here between 1 and 3 and had Mike's cell phone number if anything was to come up. Well after moving and beginning to unpack, we were all really hungry here, so after the mover's left, it was after 3 already so we went and got some lunch. When we were finishing up eating, it was 4:30 and the Comcast tech called Mike to tell him he was there. We were only 5 minutes from home, so we drove back so the guy could install the internet. How ridiculous though, an hour and a half AFTER the scheduled time without so much as a call to say "hey my last job is running over the time I thought, I will be late." I had so much anxiety about yesterday, that guy was lucky he did not get my wraths. Because all I wanted was to either throw up or yell at someone just so I could feel better.
At the end of the day, the kitchen was completely unpacked, save for the table set that needs to be assembled. Both bathrooms are unpacked and set up very nicely. The bedroom was ready to sleep in and the living room is set up right. There's still unpacking to do, sure, but this place is starting to shape up and look great. We could not have done it without Mike's mom, my BFF Jaclyn and Mike's friend Jeff.
And keeping with my new trend, here's what I ate yesterday:
Breakfast: A couple munchkins, half a bagel
Lunch: Italian sub, 2 cokes.
Dinner: Panera, 1/2 thai chicken salad 1/2 lemon chicken orzo soup and a frozen strawberry lemonade.
Labels: jaclyn, moving, reviews, stuff i ate
